About

Jai Granofsky

Jai Granofsky is a Canadian illustrator, cartoonist, and visual storyteller with a distinct voice shaped by humor, surrealism, and playful observation. A graduate of the Center for Cartoon Studies, Jai has developed a body of work that blends expressive line work with quirky narratives — creating art that feels alive, energetic, and unmistakably his.

Over the years, Jai’s illustrations have appeared across a wide creative landscape:

—from digital platforms and print anthologies
—to magazines, calendars, and cookbooks

His work explores characters, imperfections, and the small human moments that make stories memorable. Whether it’s a single panel, a multi-page comic, or a humorous sketch, Jai approaches art with curiosity, spontaneity, and a willingness to embrace the unexpected.

Jai is currently developing a new graphic narrative project centered around real estate and contagious flesh-eaters — a darkly comedic concept reflecting his love for strange ideas, social satire, and world-building through art. His creative process ranges from traditional sketchbook drawings to digital illustration, often merging both to bring his ideas to life with texture and personality.

When he’s not drawing, Jai can be found exploring Montreal’s art scene, digging for inspiration in old comics, or expanding his collection of curious reference materials. He believes illustration should be fun, slightly chaotic, and deeply human — an invitation to see the world a little differently.

He lives and works in Montreal, continuing to draw, write, experiment, and build new visual worlds one page at a time.
